This One’s for the Ladies

This post is for the ladies so guys if you’re reading this and you get embarrassed just remember that you’ve been warned.

Today I was putting away my laundry and I looked down into my brazier drawer and I beheld hundreds, no, make that thousands of ill fitting bras. I want you to know that I know what my bra size is and each of these bras are my size. My biggest problem with finding the right bra is shopping with Yin and Yang. I just don’t have the time or patience to try them on in the store. Usually I take them home, try them on, realize it’s not the greatest fit, and then I wear it until I can’t take it anymore.

I know there was a fairly recent post on Tales From the Crib about bras and I don’t want to go into how to find the right bra. I’ve done the Victoria’s Secret thing and I can’t stand the “quadra boobs” that seems to be the goal of all of their bras. I’ve actually found a great bra at Target that is doing the job nicely for now.

What I would really like to talk about is what to do with all of those ill fitting bras. I know I could donate them to a local thrift store, but isn’t there something more fun we could think to do with them? I’m kind of needing a new hobby so help me out here.

Here are a few of my ideas:

-buy a bedazzler and make fancy earmuffs (you could probably use fur or feathers too)
-cut out the cups and sew them together like yo yos (quilting terminolgy) to make fabric (quilts, skirts, it’s your choice)
-again cut out the cups, sew on some finger straps and use them for some kind of handball mitt
-cut out the cups, bedazzle ‘em , sew them together to make a coin purse
-if it’s a really big bra you could cut out the cups, embroider one, sew on some ribbon, and use as a babies hat
-make elbow and knee pads for the kids
-if it’s really, really big you could make yourself a hat
-again really, really big, sew the cups together and make a basketball holder for your husband, bedazzle as you see fit
-sew the cups together, stuff with batting, and use as a little bed for your hamster
-sew the cups together, stuff with pot pouri, and use as sachets for your drawers

That’s it, I’m out of ideas! Here is where you come in. Remember to keep it clean, it’s a family blog.

If you’re wondering what’s happened to “The Thang” Geoff is guest blogging at T&S for about another week so the thang is all mine. Let’s have a little fun!

  1. Hey it’s kinda cool blogging to music that goes with the post!

You could make lacrosse catcher thingies out of them!

If they’re really SMALL, and black, you could make pirate eye patches out of them.

    What about the ‘ole slingshot?

hackie sacks? If it’s a small cup.

    Bean bags?

  3. I like reading Kristen’s posts so I read this one too…good laugh. but from a man’s point of view, you could cut the cups out throw them away and wear what’s left ;-)

  4. Oh Don, Don, Don…I had a feeling that would come up! :-)

  5. I realize this is not a fun suggestion, but you actually should donate those bras. They are the only source of undergarments for many women in the third world and are highly coveted.

I know–not fun. You could bedazzle them first if you really want to.

  6. I hear they make excellent sling shots.

  7. Okay, I have a way to soothe your “donation” conscience and have some fun! Give each one to a friend and tell them you’re sponsoring an event in support (heh) of breast cancer awareness month. Have each of them decorate them however they wish and then put them on ebay with an announcement that all the proceeds will go to support breast cancer research. You’d have some fun and get a nice donation to write off for charity while doing something really good for others.

I bet you’d have all kinds of people wanting to participate. It’d be great if you could get a quasi-celeb to join the fun!

  8. I was telling a friend about my post and we decided they might make really great water balloon launchers.

ESO and chronicler, thanks for the great ideas. You’ve brought this discussion up to higher ground!

  9. I find highly appropriate that a discussion on bras be uplifting.

  10. You could lauch two balloons at once. What could be more fun?

  11. One more idea for you. You could strap them all together and use them as bungee cords. Just think of the looks you would get with a new mattress tied to the top of you car with bra bungees.

  12. Ha! Ha! Or think of the looks if you made a fire escape ladder for your family to climb out of in case of a fire!

  13. Put the cups in bowls, fill them with water, and freeze. Then donate to the “I no longer qualify for the colder than a witch’s **** club; please send help now” charity.

Um, that probably isn’t clean. Well, yes it is cause you wash them before you freeze them . . . teehee!
