October 12, 2009    By: Kent (MC) @ 8:37 am   Category: Uncategorized

Blake Ostler will be presenting on “The History of the Trinity: Mormonism Engages the Christian Creedal Tradition” twice this weekend, down in Southern California. Unfortunately, The Miller-Eccles Study Group didn’t have their website updated (as of this post) to announce this event which they are hosting, but I wanted to get the word out.

  4. Hal, it would be great if the Claremont students’ site were updated, but I’ll add it to MormonConferences.org and link it here anyway.

  5. Hopefully a recording will be available?

Perhaps this is a good post to ask where Blake’s books can be bought in Utah. My in-laws are coming to Australia (where I am) from Utah and I need volumes 2 and 3. It doesn’t look like Deseret Book carries them; not sure about Seagull. Volume 2 is around $150 and volume 3 $1000 on Amazon!!

If anyone knows where they can be bought in Utah please let me know.

    cheers,

    Chris

  6. I purchased my copy of Volume 1 at Deseret Book, several years back…I was pleasantly surprised to see it there. I think that is where I first found out about it, actually.

  7. Chris: you can probably find them at Benchmark, which is something like 3200 south main street, slc.

  8. I bought mine directly from Kofford books. I have seen them at Seagull.

  9. I got my copy of vol. 3 from store.fairlds.org. They ship from Orem, Utah, so I am sure if they still have copies, you would get them ASAP.

  10. Chris,

Deseret Book does carry them, the trick is them having volume 2, because it generally sells quickly leaving some lonely volumes 1 and 3.

I was at Benchmark friday and they had volumes 1 and 3 there, but they are pretty good about helping you locate it from other stores.

    P.S.

Blake you need to do some up here in Salt Lake/Bountiful/Farmington area

  11. FYI, Miller-Eccles did send out an email or two about Blake’s upcoming presentation, even if they didn’t update the website.

  14. BTW the dialog in all of meetings went well. I was delighted to finally meet Jacob B. and many others at Claremont and I thought the discussion with the students and others in attendance was superb mostly because of the excellent questions that were asked.

I really enjoyed meeting with the Miller-Eccles Group. My thanks especially to the Thurstons and Frandsens for the their kindness in hosting the events. I really enjoyed meeting all of those who attended. The discussions s went long pas the time they were originally scheduled because of excellent discussion and questions.
