In getting ready, I thought I would take <a href=\"http:\/\/bycommonconsent.com\/2010\/10\/28\/searching-for-the-priesthood-line\/\">Natalie B.&#8217;s advice<\/a> and search out the priesthood line more deeply. (This admonishment, after all, dovetails nicely into Elder Uchtdorf&#8217;s encouragement in conference to learn more, which my past few posts have been on.)<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, according the <a href=\"http:\/\/lds.org\/handbook\/handbook-2-administering-the-church\/priesthood-principles?lang=eng#2.1.1\">\u201cHandbook 2: Administerng in the Church\u201d section 2.1.1<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPriesthood keys are the authority God has given to Priesthood leaders to direct, control and Govern the use of his priesthood on earth.\u201d It is \u201cthe right to preside over and direct the Church within a jurisdiction.\u201d<br \/>\nJesus Christ holds all the keys and confers them to his Apostles on the earth. The President \u201cis the only person on earth authorized to exercise all priesthood keys.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The president of the Church delegates priesthood keys to other priesthood leaders. For their designated responsibilities, and in their jurisdiction, they become the \u201cpresiding authority\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Counselors do not receive priesthood keys, the function by \u201cdelegated authority\u201d. Auxiliary presidents do not receive keys. They receive \u201cdelegated authority\u201d. <\/p>\n<p>If Priesthood keys are \u201cauthority\u201d to perform \u201cdesignated responsibilities\u201d that are \u201cdelegated\u201d to them, what is the difference between priesthood keys and the \u201cdelegated authority\u201d that Auxiliary presidents and Counselors have?<\/p>\n<p>Is this a distinction without a difference?
