The fact that I&#8217;m using the word uber is proof in itself.  My transformation began right at the start of my journey into marital bliss.<!--more-->  For example, the first year of marriage my husband and I became addicted to <em>Star Trek: The Next Generation<\/em>.  Who would have thought that during my first year of marriage to an intelligent, spiritual, and gorgeous man I would kind of have a crush on an old, bald guy with a cool accent?  I think we saw EVERY episode on a busted out, rabbit-eared television.<\/p>\n<p>When I had my first baby she wanted to nurse constantly.  I was a human pacifier.  We didn&#8217;t have cable television yet and we had to rely on three local channels for our TV entertainment.  One of the channels ran reruns of <em>Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman<\/em> and I&#8217;m not proud to say this but I think I&#8217;ve seen every episode of that show too.<\/p>\n<p>When I complained to my husband of my boredom he suggested that I read <em>The Lord of the Rings<\/em> trilogy.  I was dubious.  I&#8217;m not much of a fantasy literature fan, it tends to drive me crazy after a bit.  He reassured me numerous times that they were excellent books and he was sure I would love them.  You know what?  He was right, I did!  Now, I&#8217;m the proud owner of the extended (5 hours each) DVD collection of all the trilogy movies that have been released so far.  Oh yeah, I was also Galadriel for Halloween a couple of years ago.<\/p>\n<p>Another uber nerdy thing that we&#8217;ve enjoyed recently is the movie, <em>Serenit<\/em>y.  I am sad to say that I didn&#8217;t really watch the show <em>Firefly<\/em> when it was on TV but I hear that I can now catch it on the Sci-Fi channel so all is not lost.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, our latest lapse into the world of the Uber Nerds is <em>BattleStar Galactica<\/em>.  We&#8217;ve been watching season 2 and since we missed season 1 we&#8217;ve been renting it on DVD when we&#8217;ve had the chance.  In fact, we watched a few episodes for our weekly date night a few days ago.  It was very romantic.<\/p>\n<p>I will admit that my husband has also introduced me to some very cool things too.  Through him I&#8217;ve been exposed to reggae and ska.  We&#8217;ve learn to appreciate sushi together and he&#8217;s taught me a little about skate boarding (I&#8217;m not very good at it).  We lived in San Diego for many years and that is one cool place to live.
